Nars Makeup Review

Hey everyone!

Here’s a quick review of one my favourite makeup brands. Nars.

Nars is not available here in Bahrain so this summer I went a bit crazy when I was in Istanbul and bought quite a few products.

I’ll be reviewing these every couple of days so don’t forget to subscibe to hear more about them.

Let’s start off with the Dual Untensity Eyeshadow Palette.

This palette is made up of shades Europa, Andromeda, Himalia, Ursa Major, Subra, Lysithea, Grove and Sycromax.

So now that we’ve read the names of these shades which sound like cool intergalactic planets at war, let’s have a look and see what’s inside. :)

DSC_0629 DSC_0630 DSC_0631It come with a small shader brush too.

All of the shades apart from the black one are shimmery, but the pigments are so intense and sp bright that for some reason all I kept thinking of was using this palette for a really dramatic ‘cut crease’ eye look. They can be used wet or dry.

Here are some swatches. These were basically 2 strokes of each shade so you can see how intense the colours are.

One of the coolest things about Nars are their packaging. I mean who could resist a palette that’s literally a mirror as soon as you pick it up?

It’s neat, it’s cute and best of all it’s compact so it won’t take up too much space in your makeup bag.

Don’t forget to subscribe!

Sile Bezi

Today was the third day of Eid here in Bahrain, and after a very busy first two days it was a little more relaxed.

So I chose to wear a cream coloured dress which I bought from Sile, a small seaside town on the outskirsts of Istanbul in Turkey. This is where my mother’s from and it’s very well known for it’s Sile Bezi or Sile Cloth. A natural fabric that’s woven like a type of muslin and is treated in the local sea with the salty water and then air dried.

It’s beautifully light and is used for a whole variety of things from dresses to blouses to table cloths and napkins. Traditionally it’s hand embroidered in colourful floral and symetric designs.

My dress has a thick lace edging at the hem and neckline, plain, not so traditional maybe but none the less extremely comfortable. I added an old rope typr designed belt for a more boho look.

Jumpsuiting

Hey guys! Here is a look that was shot a while back by my uber talented friend Hina Mirza (IG name below) but just didn’t have the time to post. It’s a late one I know but I thought it might give you inspiration to create your own version of this look. When we shot it it was seriously hot and we were fasting too so excuse any weird facial expressions!

It’s basically a two piece outfit comprising of a jumpsuit and long tasseled cover up/ top.

The tassels are pretty long whereas the actual cut of the top finished quite short so the tassels allowed for covering up of any necessary areas :) It’s not always easy to find long tops like this so when I saw this one I grabbed it immediately.

Black on black was my colour choice teamed with a pair of black Gucci gladiator (isn) style shoes and a deep pink plain coloured scarf.

AquaMatics by Makeup Forever

I recently received a lovely package from Makeup Forever in Dubai. It was an introduction to their latest collection of Aqua makeup.

So seeing as it’s still summer and I’m still using them, I wanted to write a review for you guys and explain more about the collection.

This new Aqua collection is gorgeously waterproof, and provides a truly unique staying power on the face, eyes and lips. It’s the perfect companion during your summer break whether in the swimming pool, on the beach, or on an evening night out in any hot and humid climate.

AQUA MATIC cream eyeshadows are a new addition to MAKE UP FOR EVER’s award-winning Aqua range, I’ve heard a lot about this range and I must say it sure lives up to it’s name. When applied it has a light, smooth and creamy texture which makes it easy to blend. The colours range from nude to pop in matte and diamond effects. Here are some swatches on the back of my hand:-

The range also includes a collection for lips called Aqua Rouge and one for the eyes including an Aqua Liner: a waterproof eyeliner, Aqua Black: an intense waterproof cream eyeshadow.

Aqua Eyes: a waterproof liner pencil and Aqua Cream: a long lasting cream for eyes, cheeks and lips.

Aqua Lip: a very long-lasting lip liner that has an extremely waterproof texture to reshape and emphasize the lip contours. It’s water and saliva resistant.

Aqua Rouge: A high-impact waterproof liquid lipstick delivers intense and long-lasting coverage with an eye-catching shine of a gloss. It is highly pigmented, and most important, smudge-proof and sweat-proof.

Aqua Seal: Turns all types of eye makeup and pencils into waterproof textures. Its alcohol-free formula does not irritate the skin and can be applied close to the eye.

Aqua Smoky Lash: A waterproof mascara that provides volume, length and instant curl to the lashes.

Aqua Smoky Extravagant: Comes in a waterproof rich black shade which combines both dramatic impact for a look that is intense and strong from far where length and volume stand out and graphic precision for close-ups where lashes are flawlessly separated with professional precision.

And finally, Aqua Brow Kit: A waterproof eyebrow corrector that fills, defines and lengthens brows. It’s creamy gel texture gives an even, natural result with a long-lasting hold under all conditions (water, heat, etc).

Jeans Day

It’s always nice to have a casual jeans day, and today was one of them. It’s a break from the norm, and actually puts me in my comfort zone.

I wore a black long sleeved top under this black and white one to cover my arms, and a pair of lose fitting boyfriend jeans.

Espadrilles: Anotah

Sunshine yellow

Surprisingly living in the Middle East it’s not always easy to find modest clothing, so when I popped into Anotah in City Centre Bahrain the other week this gorgeous piece caught ny eye and after a quick try on decided to buy it.

It’s a lovely tunic that’s shorter at the front and longer at the back that’s made from 100% viscose.

photo-5My kind of fabric as it always falls beautifully and keeps you super cool during these hot summer days.

I paired it with a slim pair of white trousers from Zara and some muted gold sandals from Banana Republic.

The yellow sort of reminded me of the colour gold and I’ve always loved the Pharonic ‘Tutankhamun style’ blue and gold combination so I finished my look off with a bright blue turquoise colured headscarf I got from Istanbul.

Not forgetting my necklace with faux turquoise beads, and diamantes.photo-6photophoto-4photo-2-2

Nyx Illuminators

Now that summer is finally here I’ve been in constant search for the perfect highlighter.

Centre Point here in Bahrain currently have a great sale on so why not try things out on a bargain!

Let’s start off with this one.

01 Narcissistic this is a neutral kind of champagne colour. It’s quite light in texture so you can just keep applying depending on the intensity you want.

Secondly I tried 02 Chaotic. This has a lot more colour to it than the first one and could certainly pass off  as a shimmering blusher. It’s a beautiful light shade of pink that would look gorgeous on any bridal or prom makeup.

Oliveto Bahrain

On Sunday evening I went out to have an authentic Italian meal at Olivetto restaurant in Adliya, Bahrain.

Being the start of the week here, it was a quiet affair which was much appreciated after my very eventful weekend.

The ambience was beautiful and the weather was lovely so I chose to sit outside in the terrace. The first thing that caught my eye were the most prettiest and smallest olive trees I had ever seen, which when I asked about them was shocked to hear that they were almost 700 years old!

I was greeted by their Fronthouse Manager who was describing their new soon to be unveiled menu. All dishes sounded amazing and as I enquired more about them, the restaurant chef, Masterchef Zanotti came over to give me some more information.

I’m not a fussy eater (well not too much) and was very happy for Chef to choose for me.

My starter comprised of a Veal Loin with blackberries, green pea puree and raspberry dressing with sour cream and thyme. It was the perfect starter. The veal was tender and the dressing and puree were divine.

Seeing as I had left it all up to chef, I was eager to see what he had next prepared for me, and to my utter amazement it was a dish that I almost always order at any Italian restaurant which was a risotto.

But this risotto is not any ordinary risotto. It was drizzled on top with a Beetroot and Pecorino cheese fondue, and wait for it…a Truffle sauce. Absolutely delicious! The serving was relatively generous compared to many other places and was extremely satisfying.

Soon after tucking into my plate full of delightful flavours, Chef Zanotti came over to ask if had liked my meals so far, I of course told him that I did and we soon started to chat over the ingredients he uses for his dishes. I was pleasantly surprised to hear that Chef Zanotti personally chooses almost all his ingredients from different regional areas of Italy and is totally passionate about Italian cuisine.

Soon, it was time for my desert. Heaven on a plate is the only way to could describe it. Lime Cake, Fennel Gelatine, Marinated Orange and a Salty Chocolate Crumble. The flavours complimented each other so well with the perfect amount of sweetness. Wow!

olidesert

I must say I was extremely impressed with the new menu, as there were so many other mouth watering dishes to choose from.

This new menu is designed to take you on a journey across Italy, I feel it’s beautifully conceived and can’t wait to continue my tour.

Take a Walk On The Wildside

Whether you want to roar like a lion or purr like a kitten the ultimate in what has almost become a classic in fashion is the use of leopard print in fashion. It appears almost every season whether it be used in a complete outfit or just in accessories. The degree to which you show it all off I guess depends on your personality. Enjoy this look ladies, and don’t forget to keep it classy !
